Two Lesbian Judges Made History This Month. They’re Also Both Badass Moms.
Not one, but two lesbian judges out here. Melissa DuBose and Nicole Berner were confirmed by the U.S. Senate to their judicial appointments this past week. DuBose became the first out lesbian of color on Rhode Island’s District Courts. Meanwhile, Berner is the first out lesbian to serve on the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. All that and they’re both moms. That’s the power of lesbianism.

Lesbian tennis player Daria Kasatkina faced Danielle Collins for the 2024 WTA Tour championship. After an hour and 19 minutes, Collins was crowned the champ. Kasatkina’s girlfriend, figure skater Natalia Zabiiako took to Instagram to remind her that she’ll always be a winner to her.
England's Rachel Daly Retires From International Football
Speaking of sports lesbians, England forward Rachel Daly announced her retirement from International soccer. With 84 caps, 16 goals, and one Euro League championship under her belt, she leaves behind some big cleats to fill. The 32 year-old announced her retirement via an Instagram post, stating that “the time has come for me to hang my boots up on the international stage.” Not that it is relevant to this bit of news, but Daly is currently dating Aston Villa teammate Sarah Mayling.

One in Ten Female Prisoners Is Lesbian or Bisexual
According to the article by Inside Time, of the 3,309 women in prison in England and Wales in 2023, 10.4% of them said they were either lesbian or bisexual, compared to the about 3% of the general UK population. The data comes from the Ministry of Justice’s Offender Equalities Annual Report. Unfortunately, neither the article nor the report speculate on reasons as to why they are more likely to end up in prison.

Stranger Things fans will be happy to know that season five is well under way. And Maya Hawke, who plays lesbian character Robin Buckley, is set to return.
